A tension-torsion universal testing machine is available for testing a variety of specimens. The most common type of test conducted on this machine is in simple tension and/or compression using metallic or cementitious specimens. The machine has been used for performing numerous low and high cycle fatigue tests on steel specimens, weld coupons, and other metal objects. In its bi-axial mode numerous experiments have been conducted on the tension-torsion behavior of steel bars, steel tubes, concrete cylinders and concrete-filled steel tubes.

TA Instruments’ ARES rheometer offers unique separate motor and transducer technology for quality measurements. The ARES rheometer is capable of measuring stress independently of the applied shear deformation. The ARES rheometer is used to study various properties of viscoelastic matierals including loss modulus, storage modulus, relaxation modulus, and viscosity as a function of temperature, time, frequency or strain.
Applications
§ Provides information on viscosity
§ Determines loss and storage modulus

Lightweight and compact.

The compact size fits easily on table tops. An ‘’open table’’ design provides open access from both sides of the table to ensure a large work space.

Convenient to Use

The table height is significantly lowered. This makes it easier to exchange jigs and samples, and to perform a wide variety of operations.

Coating friction, tack, wear, and chemical resistance measurements can be performed on coatings applied to glass and metal substrates using this Symyx Tools bench top system. The essential element of this tool is a disposable steel sphere fitted to a dual axis force transducer mounted to the end of an XYZ robotic arm. The spherical probe, selected from more than 100 loaded on the deck, is then brought into contact with the coating at a specified force and moved back and forth or up and down depending on the measurement being made.

DMATA Instruments’ Q800 DMA, based on a combined motor and transducer design, uses advanced, non-contact, linear motors to control stress and measure strain with a highly sensitive optical encoder. Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) is a technique used to measure the mechanical properties of a wide range of materials.  DMA works primarily in the viscoelastic range of a material and is therefore more sensitive to structure than a typical tensile test. With its unique design, the Q800 is also ideal for high-stiffness applications including composites.
