The BD Accuri® C6 is a digital basic flow cytometer, which is equipped with a Blue (488nm) and a Red (640nm) lasers, two light scatter detectors (FSC and SSC), and four fluorescence detectors.
The default configuration of the BD Accuri® C6 is similar to the FACSCalibur-2 (3-Blue 1-Red) with filters optimized for the detection of fluorochromes such as FITC, PE, PerCP, and APC.
The Selectable Lasers Module allows operation of the system in two additional configurations (2-Blue 2-Red, and 4-Blue) and significantly expands the fluorochrome combinations that can be analyzed.

A fluorometer or fluorimeter is a device used to measure parameters of fluorescence: its intensity and wavelength distribution of emission spectrum after excitation by a certain spectrum of light. These parameters are used to identify the presence and the amount of specific molecules in a medium.

The Cepheid Smart Cycler II System is an integrated DNA/RNA amplification and detection instrument based on the microprocessor-controlled I-CORE (Intelligent Cooling/Heating Optical REaction) module. The Smart Cycler software ensures ease of use for the sixteen independently controlled I-CORE modules found on the Smart Cycler processing block. This system provides four optical channels that allow simultaneous fluorescence measurement, using high intensity light-emitting diodes (LEDs), a silicon photodetector, and the appropriate filters for excitation and detection.
