•Images are generated with a cassette containing a flexible screen coated with a photo-stimulable phosphor.
•Light energy is absorbed by phosphor screen, which holds it as a latent image.
•Cassette is placed in scanner; image is digitized and sent to computer.
•Phosphor screen is automatically erased.
