The Roche LightCycler 1.2 is a first generation real-time  polymerase chain reaction (PCR) instrument. The instrument consists of an air-heated/cooled chamber and fluorimeter. Real-time detection is by SybrGreen or specific fluorescent-labeled hybridization probes (supports FRET, TaqMan and molecular beacon probe technologies). Cycling times are rapid (20-60 minutes/run) and the software offers the capability to perform standard and multiplex PCR product analysis, quantitation and mutation analysis. Sample carousel can accommodate up to 32 samples per run.
