This class covers all equipment that is not directly used in sample or specimen production and characterization yet which forms a discrete part of the infrastructure of a laboratory (in the way that benching, fume hoods etc do not).

The Genesis Series reflects more than a half century of Wabash leadership in hydraulic press design and construction. Genesis Series presses are state-of-the-art hydraulic presses for compression molding of rubber, plastics and composites; also for laminating. It is rugged enough for 24 hour performance on the production floor, but works equally well as a precision laboratory press.

The Thomas Wiley® Mini-Mill features a polished chamber, 40 mm diameter x 22 mm deep; two stationary blades; and a rotor with four cutting edges that revolve at high speed to produce a shearing action which minimizes loss of moisture from heat. This cutting mill produces a 20-gram, 40-mesh sample of dried plant stem tissue in 15 to 20 minutes; a similar sample of extracted leaf tissue in 7 to 10 minutes; or 13 mm pieces of soybean stems in 5 to 7 minutes. Dried samples are generally used, but tobacco with 12% moisture has been milled satisfactorily.

WINTERSTEIGER developed a drill box for its plot seeder Plotseed XL. It is suitable for the bulk seed sowing of plots at the edge of fields and larger areas at the edge of test fields, and can also sow both small grass seed and large-grain legumes. Up to 12 rows can be filled and they can be filled separately, as the chambers in the drill box are separated from each other.

Benefits:

■Variable sowing rate thanks to a continuously adjustable gear system

■A wide range of uses – fine seeds to large-grain legumes
