4000 Q-Trap Liquid Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer Applied Biosystems’ 4000 Q TRAP LCMS/MS System is a premier hybrid triple quadrupole/linear ion trap mass spectrometer. The unit combines true triple quadrupole scan modes with sensitive ion trap scans in a single LC/MS/MS run. With the 4000 Q Trap researchers can achieve results that previously required multiple analyses on multiple MS platforms. The 4000 Q TRAP is ideal for chemical structure elucidation including protein identification.
Programmable oven melts or reflows solder paste that has been printed on a circuit board. Solder is used for attaching electronic components to the circuit board.
Event detectors are used to provide continuous daisy-chain circuit monitoring during reliability testing. Two 64-channel detectors are available in the Lab.
The Elite Etch from RKD Engineering is an Automated Mixed Acid Decapsulator that enables high productivity through the integration of advanced features, made possible by the use of modern materials and design concepts. RKD’s Elite Etch Decapsulator rapidly and easily opens even the most delicate packages by delivering precise, micro aliquots of nitric, sulfuric, or mixes of these acids to the package with no sample damage.
Contains a Piranha cleaning solution to remove organic materials from substrates and a temperature controlled cascading Hydrofluoric Acid (HF) bath for etching oxide layers from silicon wafers. It has a dump rinser, DI water (de-ionized water) sink and teflon guns for the N2 and DI water.
Milara Screen Printer precisely prints solders, adhesives, and polymers through stencil or screen to join or protect electronic assemblies. An automated water-jet apparatus was designed and fabricated at NDSU for screening microbial adhesion. The system consists of a robotic arm that is mounted on a stainless steel deck which can access coating array plates from one of three plate stacking hotels. The robotic arm inverts each well of an array plate over an offset, rotating nozzle that delivers a jet of water perpendicular to the coating surface.
A Symyx® automated pull-off adhesion system is used to determine the adhesive strength of coatings to the substrate and adhesive strength of an epoxy to a coating surface (“pseudo-barnacle” adhesion).
Agilent Technologies’ 5500 Atomic Force Microscope is a high-resolution imaging and measurement tool capable of imaging a sample’s 3-dimensional topography with atomic resolution. Advanced imaging modes including Lateral Force Microscopy (LFM), Magnetic Force Microscopy (MFM), and Phase Imaging allow for the study of various material properties. Both atomic force microscopy and scanning tunneling microscopy can be performed using this instrument. “A number of advantages over other technologies make AFM a favorite with researchers.
